June 26 – July 18 I’ve started research on the history of Leelanau County – my home spot for the past 40 years. The area is rich in Native American, early maritime and settler’s history. A drive through the woods and farmlands still reveals evidence of the early settlements and lifestyles of the first people who lived there.

Around the county in a sturdy black Jeep Alas, the years are beginning to show on the old ’92 Cherokee. If she’ll just give me one more season, I’ll give her a rest next year.
